Nail Surgery

A surgical procedure to treat recurring troublesome or in-growing toe nails. This is carried out under local anaesthesia (injections into the base of the toe). The offending part of the nail is removed and a chemical (liquefied Phenol) is applied to prevent re-growth.

Biomechanical Assessment

This is a comprehensive assessment of lower limb and foot, joint and muscle function, gait analysis and evaluation of footwear. Pain in the back, hips, knees, heels or feet can sometimes be caused by poor foot function and vice versa.

Orthotics and Insoles

Following a biomechanical assessment you may be prescribed orthotics, or your G.P. or Physiotherapist may refer you for orthotics. These are specialist insoles worn in the shoe designed to correct poor foot function.

In May 2012, I completed a STM course run by Ian Linane, known in the field for research into this area as well as Forensic Podiatry. This now means both I am qualified to provide this to my patients. This qualification enables me to massage and mobilise the soft tissues in the foot, around the ankle, and in the lower limb.
